R&R Structural Detailers Ltd was established in 2002 by Richard Porter to provide an outsource for consulting engineers and contractors. In 2005 Richard was joined by Luke Humphries, and between them they have almost 40 years experience in structural detailing including reinforced concrete detailing. As a result of this they have a superb understanding of the fundamentals which helps us deliver outstanding results for our clients time after time. Based in the Soutwest of England all detailing is produced in the UK enabling us to respond quickly to on-site queries and pride ourselves in turning around amendments/changes quickly and efficiently. Having worked closely with a large concrete frame contractor over the last 5 years we have developed a good understanding of various large construction methods. Ranging from basic conventional ways to more complex multi storey slipform and deep basements top down construction.
R&R specialise in reinforced concrete detailing, producing drawings in either AutoCAD 2007 or Microstation to our, or the clients own, in-house cad standards. The bending schedules are electronically produced using Microsoft Excel, providing fully weighted schedules.
Over the last 8 years our team has worked for many consulting engineers and concrete frame contractors on a wide range of structural detailing projects across the UK, ranging from small residential developments and educational institutions, stadium projects such as the O2 arena and the redevelopment of the Highbury Stadium now known as Highbury Square. Between 2008 to 2009 we successfully completed the concrete detailing for a 130,000m3 excavation to make way for the three-storey underground car park in the historic part of Bath city centre, this was then followed by a large transfer structure to support what is now phase's 2 & 3 of Southgate shopping centre. In 2009 we picked up our most prestigious job to date, a 310m (1,017 ft) tower in Southwark, London. The Shard is a supertall skyscraper currently under construction which when completed will be the tallest building in the United Kingdom, developing R&R's ability to detail large slipform cores and deep top down basement construction.
